Belfast cafe free Christmas Day dinner pioneer to open doors for 11th year
A Belfast cafe that was one of the first in the city to offer a free Christmas Day dinner to anyone down on their luck or at home alone is to open its doors for the eleventh year running.

‘Cafe with a conscience’: Best Ethical Restaurant Awards 2015
We’ve done it again. For a second year, we’re runners-up in the Best Ethical Restaurant Awards – voted by readers of the Observer Food Monthly.
Dan scoops NI’s top barista award
So it’s official! Our very own Common Grounds manager, Dan Black, is Northern Ireland’s champion barista – scooping the top award at the first ever NI Barista Championships 2015. The competition was part of the NI Coffee Festival held in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter in September, and takes place all over the world.
Generous café refugee volunteers step up to the mark
Common Grounds volunteers, who are refugees and asylum seekers, have taken part in running the café for a day – and all the proceeds have been donated to charities working in the developing world.
